After reading the article "A Fighter For Women", (Reader's Digest Jan 2012 issue) I realized the sufferings of the victims were way beyond imagination. Being abandoned, forgotten, and chained to their traumatic nightmares made them live in misery, like a living dead person.

The forgotten victims - women brutally raped as an act of war - who experienced social exclusion and discrimination often ended up committing suicide as they have no one to turn to. Feelings of shame and the taboo of rape made it more complicated for these victims to turn to their closest relatives for help and comfort, let alone professional advises.

But I'm glad Monica Hauser helped many victims by setting up a women's therapy center, Medica Mondiale, dedicated to save abused and traumatized victims. [link]
